What is 5G technology, how does it work, why the controversy started in the world including America, and what is its connection with the flight of planes?
5G technology is discussed all over the world. There are two reasons for this discussion. One is the 'speed of the network' and the other reason is the danger of flying the aircraft being told about it.
Yes, it is being said that there can also be a threat from 5G. What danger is being talked about related to the flight of planes, why is there opposition in the world, and why are the airlines scared. Before knowing all this, let us understand what is 5G and how it works or will do.
Right now we are using 4G technology for internet speed. Before that there was 3G. And now we are moving towards 5G to make internet services more powerful or rather to speed it up. Today the world is running on the Internet. In such a situation, there will be up-gradation from time to time regarding internet services, technology, and its speed.
Yes, that's right. After the arrival of 5G, it will increase the speed of the Internet manifold, maybe up to a hundred times, all over the world.
What is the 'UDAN connection' of 5G and aircraft?
Let us tell you that the sound of 5G is being heard only in America, but before the use of 5G starts all over the world, a huge controversy has started. Recently 5G network has started in America, due to which airline companies are now in complete panic. There this network has started on January 19. After which Air India has said that with the arrival of the 5G network, now American flights can be cut and changed.
What is the 'fear' of airlines?
On the other hand, the US aviation regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says that due to the 5G network, the radio altimeter engine and brake system of the aircraft can be disrupted. Which will have a direct effect on the landing of the plane. There may be a problem in landing the plane on the runway. Even during landing and take-off, the pilot can get wrong information. The result is that many flights have refused to pass through the US route.
Let us tell you that from this week AT&T and Verizon companies were about to start their new 5G networks.
AT&T and Verizon use a spectrum close to the radio spectrum used in altimeters for their 5G wireless service. Explain that with the help of an altimeter the distance between the plane and the earth is measured. In such a situation, there may be a problem in measuring the exact height of the aircraft and the earth.
What are telecom companies saying?
AT&T and Verizon have said there is no security risk. The United States Representation of the Wireless Communications Industry (CTIA) has said that 40 countries around the world have made the C band available for 5G, but airlines there have not made such complaints. AT&D CEO John Stankey and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg have said they will reduce the power of 5G networks near the airport. Earlier France has also used a similar experiment.
How does 5G work?
The range of the C band in 5G is 3.7 to 3.98GHz and these altimeters work in the range of 4.2 to 4.4GHz. In such a situation, the frequency of the 5G band and the frequency of altimeter radio are getting very close, which is becoming a cause of fear for the airlines.
It is being said that due to the frequency of the C band used in 5G, all those equipment, which tell the altitude of the aircraft, give data about safety. Apart from this, the navigation system may also fail.
What are the types of 5G?
The 5G network mainly supports four types of technologies Non-standalone 5G (NSA-5G), Standalone 5G (SA-5G), Sub-6 GHz, and mmWave. In any region, through these four technologies, the 5G network is delivered to the devices of the users.
Non-standalone 5G
This is called a basic 5G network band and initially, network service providers in any region provide a 5G network to users based on this band. In this, a 5G network is deployed using the infrastructure available for 4G LTE. Telecom companies use this spectrum for testing the network in any region.
Standalone 5G
This network band does not rely on older 4G LTE networks. It works on its cloud-native network core. This spectrum has been adopted in many countries of the world and it is working there.
Sub-6 GHz
This is called mid-band 5G spectrum frequency. In this, the network frequency is less than 6GHz and it is used for low band telecommunications. This network spectrum is used in many countries including China.
mmWave
This is called High Band 5G Network Frequency. Frequencies above 24GHz are used in this, in which more bandwidth is available. In this, the data speed is up to 1Gbps. Many smaller and lower range cellphone towers are used to deploy mmWave, to provide complete coverage.
Dynamic network sharing
Telecom companies use dynamic network sharing to upgrade networks from 4G to 5G. This technology is only possible with the NSA 5G spectrum, as the 5G network can use two radio frequencies simultaneously. With the help of which the data speed will increase and the devices will be able to access the network faster than 4G LTE.
The advantage of sub-6 GHz frequency is that this frequency maintains 5G network connectivity by penetrating any solid object such as buildings etc. Because of this, you will continue to get network connectivity even indoors.
